Virtual Reality Vault

The biggest issue with 2d plans and 3d images is that our clients struggle to understand the designs concept and when you are paying thousands of pounds on a building project this is not good enough. We use virtual reality as part of the design process to show you options and allow you to walk around the proposals as if you would in real life. You get a sense of how the completed building will feel and the sense of space.

The Roundhouse: Originally built in 1847 as a turntable engine shed for the London and North Western Railway, this Grade II* listed building is a notable example of Victorian railway architecture. Its circular form now hosts a famous music and performance venue. St Pancras Chambers: This grand Victorian Gothic Revival hotel, designed by George Gilbert Scott, is situated above the station of the same name and is a prime example of opulent 19th-century railway architecture. Canalside architecture and development Regent’s Canal: Designed by architect John Nash and engineer James Morgan, the canal is a defining feature of Camden.

Key elements include the historic Hampstead Road Locks (Camden Lock), which were built between 1818 and 1820 and are now Grade II listed. The canal is crossed by a number of historic bridges, including the cast-iron Camden Lock Bridge, built in 1878. Hawley Wharf: The redevelopment of this area includes modern structures that integrate into the existing architecture, with new buildings featuring brick columns designed to complement the area’s tradition. Regent Canalside: This modern, mixed-use scheme by Squire and Partners drew inspiration from the local industrial and residential architecture, using stock brick and retaining traditional window proportions.

Alexandra Road Estate is a visually striking and ambitious social housing project by architect Neave Brown, this Grade II* listed estate was built in the 1970s and is a key example of Camden’s modernist architecture. Isokon Building is a modernist, art-deco block of flats in Belsize Park was a bold experiment in communal living in the 1930s. It was renovated by Avanti Architects, who retained many of the original features. Swiss Cottage Central Library: This library building from 1964 was designed by Sir Basil Spence and later refurbished by John McAslan and Partners, who carefully preserved the quality of the original exterior and interior.

King’s Cross Regeneration: The revitalized area near the Camden boundary includes modern office buildings by celebrated architects and the creative repurposing of historic industrial buildings, like the Granary Building and Coal Drops Yard. Canopies for Camden Market: Contemporary canopies and pavilions have been added to Camden Market, using a blackened steel structure inspired by the area’s Victorian industrial past. Camden Bridge: Níall McLaughlin Architects designed a new pedestrian bridge over the Regent’s Canal as part of ongoing development, creating a link between Camden and King’s Cross.

Architecture in Camden

The architecture in Camden is a diverse mix of Victorian industrial heritage, modernist social housing, and contemporary canalside developments, all centered around the Regent’s Canal. The area has transformed from a transport and industrial hub into a vibrant cultural center, with this evolution reflected in its repurposed buildings and new construction. Victorian railway and industrial heritage Camden Lock and Markets: The famous Camden Markets are housed in and around former Victorian warehouses and stables that supported the canal and rail goods yard. The Interchange Building at Camden Lock is a Grade II listed warehouse with vast basements and strong construction that previously transferred goods between canal boats, rail, and road.
