Virtual Reality Vault

The biggest issue with 2d plans and 3d images is that our clients struggle to understand the designs concept and when you are paying thousands of pounds on a building project this is not good enough. We use virtual reality as part of the design process to show you options and allow you to walk around the proposals as if you would in real life. You get a sense of how the completed building will feel and the sense of space.

The factory is famously linked to the 1888 Match Girls’ strike, an important moment in workers’ rights history. Three Mills Island: Located on the River Lea, this area features one of the oldest surviving industrial centers in the UK, with the largest tidal mill in Britain, the House Mill, dating from 1776. Many of Bow’s streets retain historic Georgian and Victorian residential homes, though a large portion of the area’s terraced housing was replaced with post-war estates.

Post-war and modern St Paul’s, Bow Common: Completed in 1960, this is one of Britain’s most significant post-war churches. The Brutalist church, designed by architects Robert Macguire and Keith Murray, features an angular exterior of brick and concrete and an egalitarian, concentric worship space. Council estates: Post-war reconstruction led to numerous low-, medium-, and high-rise council estates, including the Crossways Estate from the 1970s, which features three 25-storey tower blocks. Bow Arts Trust: The Bow Arts headquarters showcases a project that reclaims underused industrial space for artistic and public use.

Contemporary housing: Recent regeneration includes developments like Leaside Lock, which integrates contemporary materials like handmade brickwork with the local industrial heritage. The Bow Wharf development reinterprets canal-side warehouse living. Former Poplar Town Hall: Located on Bow Road, this 1930s modernist building now serves as the Bow Business Centre. It features mosaics illustrating the borough’s industrial dockland history. Ecclesiastical St Mary and Holy Trinity Church: The parish church is located on an ‘island site’ surrounded by Bow Road. Originally built as a chapel in 1311, it has a long history and is a Grade II*-listed building. Holy Trinity Church: This Grade II-listed church, which was closed and became dilapidated, has been restored and reopened as the Heritage & Arts Centre (HAC Bow).

Architecture in Bow

The architecture in Bow reflects its rich history as a working-class industrial area in East London, with remnants of medieval structures, prominent Victorian industrial buildings, and a wide array of post-war housing estates. In more recent times, regeneration has introduced modern residential developments and repurposed industrial buildings, adding a contemporary layer to the district’s architectural fabric. Industrial and Victorian Bow Quarter was originally the site of the Bryant and May match factory, the red-brick Victorian industrial buildings have been converted into a unique residential complex.
