Virtual Reality Vault

The biggest issue with 2d plans and 3d images is that our clients struggle to understand the designs concept and when you are paying thousands of pounds on a building project this is not good enough. We use virtual reality as part of the design process to show you options and allow you to walk around the proposals as if you would in real life. You get a sense of how the completed building will feel and the sense of space.

Many of these homes have been renovated and expanded with modern extensions. Hackney Empire is a magnificent example of an Edwardian music hall designed by Frank Matcham, the theatre features an ornate terracotta facade and a lavish interior. Modernist and post-war architecture like post-war estate after World War II, Hackney embraced ambitious social housing projects to address significant bomb damage and housing shortages.

Notable estates include: Somerford Grove Estate (1949): An early post-war housing estate designed by Frederick Gibberd, it followed the “mixed development” ideal with a variety of building types and a pedestrian-friendly layout. Gascoyne Estate (1959): This estate drew inspiration from the modernist architecture of Le Corbusier. The Beckers Estate (1955): Featuring Scandi-influenced design, this estate incorporated both low-rise blocks and eleven-story tower blocks. Iconic modernist buildings: Architects left their mark on other building types as well: Haggerston School (1964): Designed by celebrated modernist architect ErnĹ‘ Goldfinger, this building is now Grade II-listed. Clissold Park School (1967–70): Built in a Brutalist style, it is another example of post-war educational architecture.

Industrial and regenerated areas Warehouse conversions: Hackney’s industrial past has left a legacy of robust warehouse buildings, particularly in Hackney Wick, which have been converted into flats, offices, and creative spaces. Hackney Central regeneration: Ongoing regeneration projects aim to create a greener, more sustainable town centre. Projects include refurbishing railway arches for business, re-landscaping public squares, and improving shop fronts.

Contemporary conversions and extensions: Architectural projects frequently focus on modern extensions to existing houses, often incorporating contemporary materials like glass and brass to contrast with and complement the historic brickwork. Community-led new builds: Newer residential developments are sometimes community-led, transforming disused sites into sustainable, high-density housing that incorporates shared gardens and flexible living spaces.
