Our approach to listed buildings and heritage assets is to preserve and enhance. We know how to mix modern and old architecture and the building techniques required. Our knowledge has come through many years of working on historic buildings all across the UK. Our directors prior to working at Cameron Bosque Brookes have been involved in many prestigious heritage projects in central London and Cambridge. Our designs at Cameron Bosque Brookes Architects always treat the heritage asset as protagonist and aim to enhance the historic building and remove any features which impact negatively to it. As a practice we relish the opportunity to work with these historic buildings and develop them sensitively so they are maintained and can be enjoyed for years to come. We look forward to visiting your own piece of English heritage and help you preserve our beautiful history.

When working with heritage assets, a listed building architect like Cameron Bosque Brookes Architects is an essential partner for navigating the delicate balance between historic preservation and modern functionality. Specialising in listed building consent in England, we possess a deep understanding of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act and work closely with local conservation officers and Historic England to ensure all interventions are sympathetic. Cameron Bosque Brookes utilises traditional craftsmanship, such as lime mortar pointing, lead work, and timber frame restoration, while integrating discreet, 21st-century upgrades like high-performance slimline glazing and sustainable heating. By conducting detailed heritage impact assessments and structural appraisals, they protect the “special architectural or historic interest” of Grade I, Grade II*, and Grade II structures, ensuring that renovations and extensions are not only legally compliant but serve to enhance the longevity and value of the nation’s architectural legacy.

Virtual Reality Vault

The biggest issue with 2d plans and 3d images is that our clients struggle to understand the designs concept and when you are paying thousands of pounds on a building project this is not good enough. We use virtual reality as part of the design process to show you options and allow you to walk around the proposals as if you would in real life. You get a sense of how the completed building will feel and the sense of space.

Our historic environment is one of the UK’s most valuable assets and its legacy is cherished and valued from generation to generation. Today, over 99% of the population of England (according to Historic England: Heritage and Society 2016) lives within a mile of a listed building, structure, or setting. Local heritage brings value, not just in terms of tourism, but by shaping our views of where we live, forming our communal identity and giving us a sense of place. its legacy is cherished and valued from generation to generation. So maintaining these buildings is absolutely essential. At CBBA we have a passion for our heritage. Over the years we have had the pleasure to work on a number of significant buildings, and play a part in maintaining them for future generations. We therefore have an in-depth knowledge of the needs and techniques required to maintain/extend them, as well as the legislative process that needs to be navigated. So if you own a listed building and are considering work, or are thinking of purchasing one. Then please get in touch.
