Residential
New build high end 5 bedroom and basement detached property located in a conservation area. It is a unique self-build home which is almost 8,000 square feet over 3 levels.
Residential
This self-build family home, set in a Conservation Area, is inspired by the past.
The client’s love of manor-style properties and intricate traditional detailing has led to a design that feels historic yet contemporary.
The biggest issue with 2d plans and 3d images is that our clients struggle to understand the designs concept and when you are paying thousands of pounds on a building project this is not good enough. We use virtual reality as part of the design process to show you options and allow you to walk around the proposals as if you would in real life. You get a sense of how the completed building will feel and the sense of space.

We have been delighted about the way Grant and the team at CBBA, have understood our aspirations for our additional space, and how they have translated that into a building design that we are really excited about. Grant is really great to work with. He got us effortlessly through the planning process and he and the team are highly recommended by us. We had a fantastic experience with CBB Architects planning our single storey extension. With this being the first project like this that we have undertook, we felt we were in great hands since Grant was informative and always responded quickly to any questions. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and offered his own advice and creative ideas that really improved the final design. We would have no hesitation in recommending CBB architects.Posted on Google Mohammed AzamuddinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The two Hemingford villages of Hemingford Abbots and Hemingford Grey feature a rich blend of architectural styles, with prominent Norman, Tudor, and Georgian elements. Both areas are protected as Conservation Areas due to their special architectural or historic interest. Key architectural sites in Hemingford Grey include: The Manor House: One of the oldest continuously inhabited houses in England, originally built as a Norman tower house around 1130.
Despite later additions and renovations, including a Georgian facade that was destroyed by fire, the Norman core remains. It features original Norman windows, a 16th-century fireplace, and chamfered ceiling beams. The Manor is also known for being the inspiration for author Lucy Boston’s Green Knowe children’s books. St. James’ Church: Probably founded around 1160, this Grade I listed church was originally cruciform with a central tower. After the tower was rebuilt at the west end in the 14th century, the spire collapsed in a storm in 1741 and was never replaced.
Hemingford Grey House: Built in 1697, this Grade II* listed house is a square-plan building of red brick with a hipped roof. It features symmetrical facades and Georgian detailing, including 19th-century hung sashes and a circa 1720 staircase. The village also includes charming, rendered and thatched cottages, particularly near the church and manor house. St. Margaret’s Church in Hemingford Abbots is a Grade I listed church building dates to around 1300, replacing an earlier Norman structure. The interior includes a 15th-century carved oak roof and a 14th-century octagonal font.
Hemingford Park Hall was built in the Greek Revival style between 1842 and 1843 by architect Decimus Burton, this Grade II* listed country house features a hipped slate roof and a portico with Doric columns. The Old Rectory is an 18th-century rectory remodelled in 1813 in the Strawberry Hill Gothic style. The house is Grade II* listed and sits within a listed garden that features a large pond. The Axe and Compass pub housed in a historic 15th-century, timber-framed, and thatched building is the main pub in the village. Common Lane is a residential street in the village of Hemingford Abbot and it is known for having large, expensive properties and a location close to the River Great Ouse.
Cameron Bosque Brookes Architects have been the dominate architect on Common Lane in Hemingford Abbots and also High Street Hemingford Grey over the last 10 years designing many extensions and new build homes. Cameron Bosque Brookes Architects stand out projects have been the Mock Tudor self-build home which was shortlisted for the national Build It awards and also Marylyn another self-build home which is the one of the largest and most modern buildings on Common Lane and the only one with an expansive basement which houses a gym, bar, cinema and wine rooms.
